Our Story, Our Missions.
The Castillon Brewery was founded by Steffen Scholl, a direct descendant of Denis Driancourt, Limonadier and Wine Merchant since 1782. Unfortunately, the activity of his ancestors died out over the generations. Until this day, in August 2021, when he decided to start this new adventure of producing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to his traditional and family recipes.
This new adventure has been thought and designed for more than a year in order to bring new dimensions to the sector but also to defend values that are dear to us: the organic, the short circuit, the non-use of coloring agents, flavors, preservatives, or other additives or ingredients denaturing the origin, nature and consumption of our products.
We have the will to propose you a range of drinks within which, each one would find its happiness by going of the beer to the lemonades, orangeades, iced tea... but by not forgetting our liquors.
Our project, as we would like to present it to you, will be develop over the next 5 years, with the following 4 points as guidelines :
1/ Investing, developping and implementing an eco-responsible brewery via solar autonomy in electricity and heat, but also via a study of the use of our local water, our blue GOLD. This study is intended to be as meticulous as possible. We want to reduce water consumption as much as possible in this sector. Today, a conventional brewery consumes an average of 7.6 liters of water per liter of beer produced. Our goal is to create a brewery that reaches a maximum threshold of 3.6L per liter of water.
That's why we need your support, your presence and your investment in this project. This would allow us to increase our production capacity, to invest in eco-responsible equipment and to continue to offer you unique products in our region, promoting local, sustainable economy and contact with you.
2/Defend two local projects that are important to us and the focus of attention in our region. This is the protection of bees in the region of Castillon and Menton. The number of beehives had dropped to less than 30 a few years ago ... while there were more than 250 in the region. This dramatic event had as a direct consequence the decrease in production of fruits and vegetables in the region due to the lack of pollination activity. Fortunately, the number of beehives is increasing, but we are far from the numbers of the past. The second project concerns the village of Castillon and the support we would like to bring to the community. Not only via the principle of short circuit but also via the principle of being an actor within our locality. Actors on several levels: short circuit and soliciting the maximum of available resources, investing in heritage restoration projects (e.g. the fort of Castillon), transmitting our knowledge of eco-responsible know-how.
3/ Offering you quality products at prices that are gradually decreasing over time. Today we need your support in order to reach our goals. Our prices are set by our production capacity, in order to guarantee profitability, sustainable growth and a reinvestment project in a new eco-friendly brewery. We also need to amortize the multiple investments that have allowed us to get to you today. Be careful, offering decreasing prices does not mean putting aside quality! Far from it. In a brewery, your profitability often depends on the number of bottles you are able to produce. Our goal is to offer you beers whose selling price will be reduced by half over a 5 year period.
4/ Offering you organic products in which you will have confidence. Whose conception will be transparent for you and your relatives, made with the greatest care according to the craft brewing tradition but also by guaranteeing you the most qualitative composition possible. We want to be free of any preservatives, colorings, artificial/natural flavors, or any additives. Our products will be the least sweetened possible.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your commitment to us and don't forget! Every time you make a purchase, you are voting for the world of tomorrow.
